- כּוֹכֶבֶתf. (preced. wds.) the planet Venus, morning star, evening star. Yalk. Jer. 276 (ref. to Jer. 7:18) שהיו עובדים למלכת השמים זו היא חכ׳ (not מלאכת) they worshipped the queen of the heavens, that is Venus; Pesik. R. s. 31 הכוכבים (corr. acc.). Ib. היו בנו ירושלם עובדים לכ׳וכ׳ (not לכוכבים) the Jerusalemites worshipped Venus openly Ib. שכשתעלה הב׳ (not הכוכבים), v. כַּוָּוי.
